What is the story behind the name House of Kajaana?

Kajaana is a play on the Hindi phrases “kha ja na” (खा जा न), meaning “eat up” and “khajaana” (खजाना), meaning “treasure”. Our name captures the joy of eating delicious Indian food and treasuring every bite! We believe the freezer is the treasure chest of your home and that our meals will become its most prized gems.

Our meals are produced in Los Angeles. House of Kajaana is 100% made in the U.S.

Are House of Kajaana meals certified organic?

Our Roasted Butternut Saag is completely nut-free. Our Cauliflower Tikka Masala and Coconut Malabar Curry meals each contain coconut, which falls under the category of a tree nut. No other nuts are added but please note that our meals contain some ingredients that are made in a facility that processes peanuts and tree nuts. How should I store House of Kajaana meals?

How do I prepare House of Kajaana meals?

How To Enjoy:
Always heat from frozen. Our trays are microwave and oven safe. Our trays are microwave- and oven-safe. To achieve its finest form, please cover the dish as it reheats.

Microwave (Preferred):
Peel back film from one corner of tray. Microwave on high for four minutes. Stir each component, re-cover, and heat one minute more or until hot throughout.

Conventional Oven or Toaster Oven:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Peel off film entirely. Cover tray with foil and heat for 25 minutes. Remove from oven, stir each component, re-cover, and heat 15 minutes more or until hot throughout.

How should I serve House of Kajaana meals?

Our meals are designed to be enjoyed by one or many, making them perfect for dining solo or gathering around the table with friends. Enjoy an individual meal by yourself or enjoy a feast of multiple meals. Feel free to mix and match meal components– all of our meals are delicious on their own and when enjoyed together!

We believe that every grain counts and sustainability has always been a core value for House of Kajaana. Our ingredients are sourced locally and our California-based manufacturer is committed to sustainable practices in their facilities. Our packaging is made from environmentally friendly and recyclable materials. We aim to reduce waste and promote earth friendly consumption habits from a company to consumer level. Is your packaging recyclable?

Yes! Our cartons and trays are recyclable. Our earth-friendly trays can be recycled in the same capacity you would recycle a milk carton.

What does “plant-based” mean? Do you use cell-based or plant-based meat alternatives in your meals?

Our meals are 100% made from plants and whole ingredients. We do not use any cell-based meat, fake meat products or soy based plant-based meat alternatives in our meals. We believe that you can have a nutritious and complete meal from plant-based whole ingredients that cultures have relied on for many generations.
